If our #ThisIsBeerFit Instagram challenge taught us anything, it’s that individuals all around America are embracing the BeerFit lifestyle and balancing their runs with a good, cold beer. That’s why we’re excited to bring another round of celebrating our wins with beer to Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium on June 4, 2016.
To help runners in the area find their BeerFit community before we get there, we’ve rounded up the best Kansas City-based running groups that believe the best way to cool down after a run is with a nice, cold beer.
KC Pub Run
If you like to run and drink beer — which we’re pretty sure applies to everyone reading this right now — then the KC Pub Run meetup group is for you. The small but active running club loves to run and then celebrate with beer, and they do this by meeting at different pubs each week for a 3 to 5-mile run followed by happy hour post run. All levels of runners are welcome to participate, but be sure to read the Group Rules before showing up.
Kansas City Track Club
With the goal of connecting runners and walkers in their own neighborhoods, the Kansas City Track Club has multiple events during the weekdays and weekends, so you can find a group run that fits your schedule easily. Group runs are informal, so all you need to do is show up to hook up with runners that run your same pace, log some miles and make new friends. Oh, and bond over beers afterwards! KCT’s Monday night runs meet at The Brooksider Bar and Grill for a group run followed by socializing at The Brooksider over beer specials. Check out their website to find a run that works for you!
The Topeka Sunflower Striders Running Club encourages running, walking and other forms of exercise and physical activity for its members. Offering weekly get-togethers for runners to run in a pack, socialize and motivate one another, their Wednesday night runs are typically followed by fueling up with carbs (including boozy carbs!) at a variety of rotating restaurants.
KC Running Company
The KC Running Company hosts weekday training runs to ensure that your race runs smoothly from the starting line to the post race beer you should treat yourself to. Runners of all levels can check the company Facebook page for updates on group runs, events and organized races. One major perk? If sometimes you like something a little stronger than beer, the running store has been known to host an annual Whiskey 5k in March.
