The Best Running Clubs In St. Louis for Runners Who Love Beer

runners-and-beer

The residents of St. Louis are thirsty for a challenge — that’s why we’re bringing the BeerFit Running Series to St. Louis’ Gateway Motorsports Park on May 21!

Casual runners and athletes alike can pick from two course options: a competitive 5k and our signature Brew Mile race. But whichever course you pick, we know the motivation behind your choice: the beer past the finish line.

To help runners in the area find their BeerFit community long before the event, we’ve rounded up the best St. Louis-based running groups that believe in celebrating their wins with beer.

Cheers!

The St. Louis Track Club

Calling themselves the largest group of runners and walkers in the St. Louis area, the St. Louis Track Club encourages running, walking, and fitness for people of all ages and running abilities. The club organizes large scale events like the St. Louis Half Marathon, as well as weekly group and social runs. For beer lovers, a group run departs from The Schlafy Tap Room or Schlafly Bottleworks every third Monday of the month at 6pm for a 3-to-6-mile run followed by recovery beer and socializing.

Happy’s Running Club

With a motto like, ‘Run… Drink… and Be Happy!’ it’s hard not to want to sign up for this running and social club ASAP. Happy’s Running Club, which operates in four cities, is a resource for anyone looking for training partners, new friends, or for those who just want to be part of the local running community. And as a bonus, the St. Louis division meets at 6pm on Tuesdays at Happy’s Irish Pub, so all runs can end with a pint or two.

Belleville Running Club

While the Belleville Running Club is technically based in Belleville, Illinois, it hosts group runs and races in the St. Louis area. On Thursday nights, runners of all abilities meet behind the St. Louis Bread Company for a “social night” run — which, while we don’t know specifics, sounds like they end with booze.

Fleet Feet Flyers

Hosting Sunset Social runs including pub runs, game runs, themed runs and more, the Fleet Feet Flyers running club meets on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:30pm from early August to late May. Most runs leave from the a Fleet Feet location, and are about five miles long. Check out their upcoming events calendar to see which runs fit your schedule.

Big River Running Company Pub Runs

Everybody loves a good pub run! Join Big River Running Company for their rendition of the slog to a watering hole on the third Wednesday of every month from May through July. The group meets at Llywelyn’s Pub in Webster Groves at 6pm for a fun run for runners, walkers and beer lovers. The route is approximately three miles, and as an added bonus, all attendees get 15 percent off their Llywelyn’s tab post run.

I received the event details for next week’s Beerfit today. Has the packet pickup been eliminated and moved to the day of the event?
