There are so many great things about going on a run: You can clear your mind, blow off some steam, and even burn off that cheeseburger you ate for lunch! Running is even scientifically proven to help you live longer, boost your memory, and increase your confidence. And despite all of those amazing benefits, we all know the absolute best thing about running is whatever refreshing beer you decide to consume afterward.
To help your warm weather runs be a little more enjoyable, we found three runner-approved seasonal beers that are perfect for drinking post springtime sweat sessions.
Shock Top Lemon Shandy
Two-time marathon finisher Michele Gorman prefers Shock Top’s Lemon Shandy as the perfect way to quench her thirst after a long run. Brewed with two row and six row malted barley, five different types of hops, and real California lemon peels, this Belgian-Style wheat ale is the perfect fruity and refreshing finish to a warm weather run.
Incredible Pedal IPA
Jason Fitzgerald, running coach at Strength Running and a 2:39 marathoner (aka, he’s freakin’ fast) recommends Incredible Pedal IPA from Denver Beer Company. The medium-bodied ale features a touch of sweetness, including hints of tangerine and grapefruit (yum). At 7.0% ABV, the hoppy ale is sure to help speed along the recovery process. And since it comes in a can, you can literally crush it after you crush your run.
Avery Brewing’s Liliko’i Kepolo
BeerFit founder Marc Hodulich prefers this tropical and tart brew from Avery Brewing after a hard workout. “I read a review that accurately dubbed this beer a ‘Witbier on crack,'” Hodulich says. “I couldn’t agree more. It’s also pretty damn refreshing after earning it.”
